When the pandemic hit and we were locked down, I started researching how to get my music into Film/TV - it's a bit of a process, so during my research in finding some music supervisors I wanted to work with, I landed on the Lucifer Netflix series and wrote a number of songs with that series in mind, which is sadly over now, unless they decide to produce one more season. Fans are dying for another season.
In my research, there is an often said statement, not to "write for sync", which is the term for adding music to visuals (Film, TV, Games, Ads, whatever) and rather get inspired by the visuals, but stick to your chosen form of music. This song is a perfect example of being inspired to write a song for or about a main character or a movie plotline in my style of Alt.country. In Lucifer, he is always getting shafted, by his dad, his mother, his brother, etc. and this song reflects those instances where he feels betrayed and pretty much decides to walk away asking himself, Why Should I Try, essentially, you say you love me, but your actions sends a completely different message. Simple really...and he's a bit pissed at the end, which is akin to the character. lol
Enjoy!

Huge thanks to Montina for the use of her painting, which she kindly sold the original to me. And big thanks to my partner in music George Leger III for his stellar engineering/production chops and contribution in bringing the music to me to add my licks, lyrics and melody to! Teamwork!
lyrics
a diamond shines in a mine deep and dark for all time
lines are drawn and defined words are said and left to die
why should i try when your love leaves me behind
i’d be better blind than to watch this blinking eye
if you find the path that winds through your heart leaves you unkind
you can’t turn on this dime or you’ll find it’s closing time
why should i try when your love leaves me behind
i’d be better blind than to watch this blinking eye
why should i try
you can take that broken fate to your soul it’s now too late
